We cannot possibly communicate all that we are, all that we believe and espouse to be true. It’s so tempting to try.
At the start of a workshop we may say things like, “This is what I’m inviting you to today…” or “I believe… makes these conversations possible.” or “I’ll be doing…. so that we can… together.”
Yes, we can clarify some of it and often it’s helpful to set the tone with a few things.
But the full breadth and depth of what we bring cannot be enunciated in words.
It can only be felt through our being.
How we show up, when we breathe, how we listen, where we look, how we respond – this is how we infuse a space.
People don’t have to know to feel.
And we don’t have to say for them to feel.
This is both comforting and scary. We can’t fake it. We can come with tools and ideas, intentions and hopes, words. But at the end of the day, who we are in the moment is what does the work.
We cannot get away from doing our own work.
